Staff at Worcester-based technology solutions provider, Open GI, have been out and about taking on a variety of fundraising events, including Mud Runner Oblivion, to help raise awareness and vital funds for Worcestershire Breast Unit Campaign.

The gruelling 10km cross country course took place on Sunday 28 June around the Eastnor Castle Estate. The Mud Runner events are a regarded as a supreme test of fitness with the course interspersed with ten different tests of strength, endurance and co-ordination, dredging through muddy trenches, scaling muddy hillsides and swimming across stretches of open water. Collectively, the team of ten runners have raised in excess of £1,500.

On Sunday 28 June, 16 Open GI members took part in ‘Race the Dragon 2015’, a 25-year anniversary event for Dragon Boat enthusiasts. More than 35 teams registered for the event, with the River Severn playing host to over 600 participants. A physically demanding challenge, bringing in more than £300.

Most recently, Open GI held its annual staff conference and summer fete on Tuesday 7 July at Sixways Stadium, home of the Worcester Warriors. The day commenced with a company update and was followed by an afternoon of celebrations, fun and laughter. Outside, fair ground stalls such as; ‘beat the keeper’ and ‘cakes and crafts’ were on offer, as well as a BBQ for all. The summer fete raised an astonishing £2,500.

Following the recent flurry of fundraising activity, Open GI is proud to announce it has raised over £12,000, smashing its annual target of £8,000 with five months still to go. The money will help to develop a dedicated Breast Unit at Worcester Royal Hospital for use by women and men across Worcestershire for all breast related issues.

Chris Guillaume, Group CEO, commented:

“Once again, the employees of Open GI have taken it upon themselves to go the extra mile towards supporting our chosen charity. It’s a commitment that’s important to us as a business – and every one of our staff. We are very excited to see that work has commenced on the new Breast Unit, with Christmas 2015 set for completion.”
